I have often seen life as a big ‘school room’ in which the lessons can be fascinating, fun, sometimes frustrating, often difficult, and even, at times, traumatic. I feel privileged to have gotten to know, and to have served, a wide range of people over the years as they have pursued their journeys towards health, recovery, balance, relational competence and personal growth. My approach is to offer support, reflection, skill building and guidance as people confront and resolve their concerns, doing so with as much love, compassion, honesty and humor as possible.

I have served as a psychotherapist for more than 35 years in the Kalamazoo/West Michigan area. My work with adults and older teens focuses on relationship issues, life directions/changes, depression/anxiety, grief/loss, LGBTQ issues, communications, personal and social skill building, and overall personal growth and healing. In addition to individual and couples counseling, I have frequently offered group therapy and workshops over the years.

I grew up west of Chicago, going to northwest Wisconsin throughout my childhood for family vacations and absolutely loving the Northwoods, fishing, boating, exploring, the lake breezes…. My family is highly artistic, mostly through music, as well as through visual arts. I always studied and participated in music regardless of my other studies. I first came to Michigan while still in college to work summers at Interlochen Arts Camp and Academy as a camp counselor, studying music/voice the whole time I was there. I fell in love with the beauty of Michigan and decided to come to Kalamazoo for graduate studies in Counseling Psychology at WMU, receiving my MA degree in 1985; I have been here ever since!

I love nature, hiking, biking, swimming, beaching, anything outdoors! Currently I am focused on gardening/landscaping and enjoying my coffee in the backyard, listening to the birds and the trees whenever the weather permits.
